Q. What changes are happening at the gym?

We have invested heavily making sure that our gym and staff are ready for the next ease in lockdown restrictions. We are working hard to help our members and pay as you go gym users get the best from their workout whilst being as safe as possible.

We have adapted the gym floor, removing only three pieces of equipment, to accommodate social distancing and a safe flow of traffic. We have made it easy to sanitise and prevent any spread of viruses.

Q. Will I have to book?

The short answer is yes. In order that we follow government guidelines and restrictions, a booking system is a requirement.

Q. Can I book now?

Yes – go to the registration page and create a username and password – if you make sure you make a note of them, it’s easy to forget your password and can save a lot of hassle if you write them down.

Q. How do I register?

Go to the registration page, it will only take a couple of minutes to enter your name, create a username, add your email, choose your plan (Adult member, Junior member or PAYG), then create a password and that’s it.

You will not receive an email confirmation, you will see a green box saying your registration is successful.

Q. Can I register if I am not a member?

Yes, but you won’t be able to use the gym unless you pay as you go or join BWells as a member. Our staff will be checking the details of bookings and we are making swipe cards an essential part of entering the gym.

Q. How do I know what the latest information is if I don’t have email?

Please check here on the website, or on our Facebook page, Spencer works hard to keep everyone updated but if details are out of date or incorrect the information might not reach you.

Q. What if I can’t get online to book a workout slot?

Please call BWell or come in – we can create a booking for you. We do ask that anyone who can book online does so, this will minimise the time that our staff have to spend on booking slots rather than attending to members’ needs.

Q. Can I just turn up to have a workout?

This is a difficult question to answer at the moment. Obviously we want to help you work out when it suits you. Generally, people like to workout at the same time/days every week but others have lives that makes it hard to book a workout in advance. We will do our best to accommodate everyone, our booking system allows you to see how which slots have spaces available, so you can check to see if there are slots before you turn up.

You can book on the day too, the booking system is very quick to use, if you are a member with WiFi or 3g you can book in under 2 minutes. PAYG will take a couple of minutes longer to include the Paypal payment process.

Simply log in, click on “book a slot” and select your time. As long as you’ve got time to get to us it can be almost last minute.

Q. Can I cancel a booking?

It is very simple to cancel a booking up to 1 minute before the timeslot.

Q. I can’t find my swipe card, can I get a new one?

We can get you a swipe card very easily, email us on with your name and we can get one ready for you to collect when you next visit the gym.

Q. Will the toilets be open?

Yes

Q. Will the changing rooms be open?

At this time we are asking that gym users arrive and leave in the their workout attire, as according to government recommendations.

Q. Will the showers be available?

At this time we ask that showers only be used if there is no way you can avoid it. Some of our customers visit during their lunchbreaks and going back to work sweaty is not an option.

The time spent in the shower will be part of your workout slot.

Q. How do I join?

Simply come down to the gym, bring a method of payment (cash, cheque, credit/debit card) and if joining on a monthly basis bring your bank sort code and account number and we will be able to set your membership up immediately. Membership prices are on this website here.

Q. How much do I pay to join?

We are currently waiving all induction and joining fees.

You will need to pay advance payment of at least one month, as it takes this long to process your direct debit mandate.

We process direct debit runs every 1st and 15th of the month, so you will need to pay the pro-rata amount up to the date of your first direct debit payment. For instance; if you join on the 2nd of August, your direct debit would start on the 15th August, and you would pay for the 6 weeks up to the 15th August at the time of joining.

Q. Do I need to have an induction when I join?

Everyone completes a health screening questionnaire which takes less than 5 minutes to complete. Only those under 18 years of age will need to have a compulsory gym induction. Under 18s are expected to follow these programmes at all times, to prevent them from over training.

We would however, recommed you do have an induction, especially if you have not exercised in a while, as it helps us get to know you.

Q. Do I need to pay for an induction?

We are currently waiving all induction and joining fees.

Usually adult monthly and annual members do not pay for their induction. Juniors and pay as you go members, or those with day passes need to pay £15 for an induction.

Q. What restrictions are in place for junior members?

Junior members need to vacate the gym at 6.15pm. Juniors need to be following a written training programme. This rule is to prevent juniors from overdoing things, or from doing exercises that are too advanced for their fitness/ strength. Parents can attend the inductions and sessions if they wish. Junior membership information and prices are here.

Q. How do I cancel my membership?

You will need to inform BWell either in person at the gym, by calling the gym on 01493 603430, or by writing to us at the club. You will need to give us 4 weeks notice of cancellation of membership. Please do not stop your direct debit with the bank in advance of the 4 weeks notice period without notifying us in advance, else you will be asked to continue paying your subscription. Details of this process are to be clearly found on your membership application form.

Q. What benefits do I get if I refer a friend?

For every friend you refer, your own monthly direct debit subscription will be reduced by £1 each month that the referred person pays their monthly subscription. This is done automatically by our membership system, and you can have more than one referral each month. In fact, the more people you refer, the more you can save. If you want to refer a friend, ">email us here with their telephone number and we will invite them down to the club for a free trial visit.

Q. Can I freeze my membership?

Yes you can freeze your membership for a maximum of 6 months. Your monthly fees drop to £5 per month, and will automatically increase again after the agreed timescale has elapsed.

Q. Are you open over Christmas and New Year?

Yes. We open Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years Eve, and New Years Day 10am -12 pm.

Q. Can I pay as I go?

You can pay £5 per session, via Paypal, bank transfer, over the phone or in the gym by card – we are not accepting cash at present.

Please note that your booking is not guaranteed until we have received payment. Paypal or over the phone are the quickest ways, better for bookings the next day. Bank transfer would suit bookings further in advance.

Q. I am a personal trainer, can I bring my clients in?

You will need to get prior permission from the club management before you can bring your clients in to the gym. To trade from our facility, you will need to follow the industry guidelines and regulations that we hold at the club. You will need to discuss this with Spencer McCormack and can ">email him here.

Q. Can I pay for a new exercise programme?

As a member, a new exercise programme costs £15 for a 45 minute session with an instructor. This will give you a written programme and a detailed explanation of what to do, how much to do and how often to do it.

Q. Do you have personal trainers on site to help me?

Yes, we have a number of qualified personal trainers with different backgrounds and areas of expertise. We can recommend the best personal trainer to help you reach your needs.

Q. When are you busiest times of the week?

Just as with most gyms. Mondays and Tuesday from 6pm-730pm are the busiest times. If you want to avoid the rush, those are the times you would be best to avoid. If you want a particularly quiet time of day, you can try before 10am, and between 2pm and 5pm weekdays.

Q. I have an injury – can you help?

Yes, we have a rehabilitation service with exercise specialists, physiotherapist support, sports therapy and podiatry. Alternatively ask for Spencer, Andy or Paul, and they will advise you on your best options.
